There is something infinitely pleasing about hand printed textiles.
From the first artistic marks on paper to a traditional printing method, our process has manual, creative practice at its core.
Our process of hand screen printing produces a fabric that has a charm and character all of its own, keeping alive a method and skill sadly disappearing in a digital age. It is labour intensive and requires planning and practice but is at the heart of what we consider to be a very special product.
From the simplest of eye catching shapes to the most complex of intricate details, many of our patterns start life as sketches inspired by architectural forms or decorative art from culturally diverse sources.
We mix our own water based inks and are continually developing a colour palette to provide you with a product that both co-ordinates and complements the finest of interior schemes.
The base cloth
Our standard cloth is a medium weight, 390 - 410gsm, 100% linen fabric with a Martindale rub test score of 20,000, making it perfect for general domestic use. Unprinted linen, in our two base colours - natural and oyster, can be purchased separately to coordinate with our printed fabrics.
Our cloth is both pre-washed and mechanically pre-shrunk, but as we use environmentally friendly water based inks our fabrics must be dry cleaned to avoid fading. We would be happy to discuss any particular concerns you have regarding the treatment of your fabric.
As our fabric is made from a 100% pure and natural fibre, it does not require any form of fire safety certification. However, if you are intending to use it as a fixed upholstery cover, you should speak to your upholsterer about the use of a fire retardent interlining to ensure that the finished furniture meets the required legislation.
